Hicag in the middle
Ok as I said before I just came back from a week in Chicago, a week spent mostly drinking……and training on one of my plants machines. The week started off with a bang when the airline lost my luggage, luckily it showed up late that night so I had proper attire to wear to the plant the next day. Training was pretty boring in the beginning but got interesting when we got to troubleshoot installed “bugsâ€. The instructor was a true Chicagoan with sentences like “Let’s look at those skimatics†or “ya put that jobber over thaerâ€, it was rather funny listening to him and thinking of Fargo or Blues Brothers. The nights were spent eating and drinking on the corporate card (which I have to file the report this week). The best place we ate was a giant log cabin with great home cooking. For lunch one day I had 2 pork chops, onion/bacon green beans, stuffing and mashed potatoes under a white gravy…..it was awesome. To top it off they had a great beer from Chippewah falls Minnesota (I think) called Leinenkugels. If you ever see this beer get it, especially the berry weiss as it is basically like Kool-aid and goes down easy with anything. I enjoyed all varieties of it and in the process obtained the full 5 pint glass collection (1 for every beer), each came with a different label and a fish with characteristics of the fish on the back side. That was basically the week, get up around 7 go to class, go to lunch, go to dinner, drink, go to bed. I think I gained a bunch of weight while there and I definitely felt sluggish at the end. I am actually looking forward to getting back into shape this week. Some other things I saw while in Chicago:
- A commercial with Dennis Rodman as a spokesperson for a law firm, good to know his career got him places.
- A local radio station using Green Days “American Idiot†to insert Bush speaking and in turn label him the American idiot/redneck agenda (that pissed me off!)
- A few videos from our instructor on self defense using pistols and small firearms (scary….you betcha!)
But the best part was jumping flights out of O’Hare after hearing about cancellations of flights and seeing a flight grounded due to mechanical malfunctions. We were supposed to leave out of O’Hare at 6 but instead we got to the airport and jumped on a 2 o’clock flight which was delayed until 3. That was all fine and dandy as when we finally took off the pilot mentioned to the passengers that a rare flight occasion could be seen out the window. Everyone looked out and saw the Blue angels going through their maneuvers for the next days flight show. The were flying even with us a few hundred yards away and as we banked the went into their climb and then inverted. It was something that I don’t think many people get to see….from the air at least. Oh well that’s the week in recap. Oh yeah, one more thing, I love the Olympics, especially this one being in Greece. It has a historical value that is really cool. And being able to watch them every evening in the bars or the hotel was great, and might I say that we have some damn fine looking females representing this country! They are ripped and beautiful…..daaaaamn gina! Oh yeah, and besides wanting to be the towel boy for all of the womens swim team, if I was 16 I would write Carly Patterson a letter to see if she wanted to go on a date. Of course that Mohini Bardwahj is 25…..but I am engaged. Yeah yeah dirty old man, I know.

You want gut-wrenching food? Try the “Fat B*tch” at a greasy spoon in NE Philly (I forget the name of the place). Heard about it on the radio yesterday.
They take a regular cheese steak roll with the steak meat (think: SteakUms), pile on fried chicken fingers, mozerella sticks, onion rings, pizza sauce and more regular mozerella, then bake it openfaced, then add steak fries in the middle and close the sandwich up.
You want heartburn? Try that.

Ok doug I will have to try that but does it beat the heart burn we used to get from the bacno cheese dogs and fries we used to have at the mall?!

NOTHING beats the bacon chilli cheese dogs from Boardwalk Fries for heartburn.
That sandwich might give ‘em a run for their money, though.
