When everything turns Orange

It is the first day of fall and it feels awesome here in the heart of South Carolina (sunny and low 80’s). I finally got everything together for my new partial cardio workout. Here is the logic behind it all. I live amid the big shopping district in the area, gas prices keep going up, the locale I am in has a series of tunnels that cross underneath the major roads for pedestrians to get from one area to another, I have a very nice bike, I just bought a nice daypack, and I need exercise. Add all that together and you see what developed, I now make it a point to travel by bike if I need a short errand or a light enough grocery load. Today I rode to Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Dicks Sporting goods during the brisk temperatures in the morning. It would be easier on a light road bike but my super duper mountain bike is just fine with it gazillion gears and shocks.
I have been asked what my favorite time of year is, well this is it….Fall. It may be the yankee in me enjoying the crisp mornings, or the enjoyment of the upcoming holidays, but it is mostly football. I know my teams suck right now but nothing beats tailgating and football, ok add in the hockey season up north and it rules. I have also had a craving to buy some sort of potpourri as my mom always had it burning in our kitchen around this time of year. Cider, pumpkin spice, and general cold weather smells bring good memories around (heck put some firecrackers on a buddies back when he’s buried in the snow while your at it….DOUG!!) Now if only I can get somewhere that I can see/smell a woodfire billowing from a chimney or go pumpkin hunting/apple picking. Ya see what being a yankee does to you!! Get’s you all excited for the cold weather. Oh well, guess I will have to make do when I go home for my sisters wedding next month.
Oh yeah and the fall colors are always a bonus, as the great color of Orange is dominant. I hope to make a trip to the Biltmore estate with Lawton sometime and enjoy the fall foliage along with their Christmas decorations. Pennsylvania was always the best for watching the colors though.

I’m insulated like a polar bear and I still hate winter and the cold.

I will be happy when I don’t have to run my AC anymore… even though it looks like that time is now.

Time to do some damnamics. later.

Aaaahh…This is the season I miss the most, living down here in Eternal Mid-summer. And am I a Yankee for loving those wintry things?

Thought I would be in SC for Homecoming, but no dice. Maybe some weekend in November.

Mmmmm..cider…pumpkin spice…smell of “cold” in the air…what’s the story about firecrackers? Please share!
