The Return
Geez, this past week was H-E-Double Hockey Sticks…HELL!! Every day, due in some way or another to the outrageous heat index temperatures, our plant experienced some form of downtime. Monday we had a blackout, Tuesday our compressors went down, Wednesday wa quiet but I had to deal with flooding air handling units, Thursday was quiet and Friday I was down 3 mechanics. Basically my side of the plant relies heavily on the “outside” plant to service our external needs. We do not have access to our own life lines and depend on them to recover us whenever we are down. Now as 90% of our lines are pneumatically operated if we have a compressor go down or power go out we lose the plant. When the compressors finally come back on line we have to wait an additional half hour for the system pressure to reach a point that can service the entire plant. Needless to say, as maintenance, we have people up our asses whenever this happens. The best part is when I announce that we have lost a compressor and everyone who was not paying attention radios in sequentially over the next 10 minutes complaining about their machines stopping due to low air pressure. This is when my Yankee rage comes into play…..not so much yankee rage but my inability to deal with blatant ignorance. ANYWAYS….the week was very time consuming, I am just now catching up on all the blog entries that I missed on friends blogs and reading up on the Penny Arcade comics. In closing I have to send Congrats to Miss Jessie and he recent engagement, we have been waiting on this for a while and it has finally come about. I wish her luck in the year of stress that she is about to encounter and look forward to seeing her and her fiancee soon!
