What a koinkydink
I saw THIS article and thought of what I was going through in my own home. With the addition of an office computer and only one cable broadband connection I had to install a wireless network. I read up on everything and found out about all the security steps you should take to ensure that hackers can not get into your system and corrupt it and that no one can freeload on your connection. I set my WEP encryptions on 128 bit and used difficult passwords so no one except people in my home can use the network. While installing the office computer my wireless card picked up 2 more networks that I could jack easily and have decent connections for free internet. If I knew which neighbor had this lack of security I would go and help them out as I would be pissed if I found out people were freeloading on my expensive connection. It also makes you wonder if, as these people are not taking the proper precautionary measures on their wireless system, they are taking the proper precautions with firewalls and the such. I know routers have firewalls installed but if you know the router type and you really want to get in there I am sure you can break the firewall. Oh well, not my problem. I just wish someone had a wireless connection that was as strong as the ones I was intercepting now when I was in college. As poor college kids we were trying to intercept wireless through antennae and anything else we could get our hands on.

Sssshhhhh…college football is around the bend. We don’t want to hear about this important stuff. Disect the secondary or tell me how sun visor Spurrier likes it on the railroad tracks there in Columbia. Important stuff, ya know?

Pay no attention to what the Wha is saying. These entries are of paramount importance for non-geeks…ahem non-computer-oriented persons like myself.
Before I set up my home network, I’m contacting you.

I’m not denying the importance of the topic but I am seriously wondering who you are now. I am no computer geek..hell it was a major shock to most I kept a blog going for 6 months. But for the love of god, this is what you have to expect. We quickly learned to encryp our end…many folks from the “other silicon valley” live near by and have attempted to jack our signal. The curry gave them away.
