Another nail biter
Ok, does anyone know an insurance company that carries against sports related maladies? I swear I will die due to a Clemson related heart attack or stress. Clemson pulled another game out this weekend when they travelled to fellow ACC team: Maryland. They waited until the 4th period with 5 minutes left to bring out the team that all the Tiger fans thought the team could be. I fear the next game though as the terps revealed a major weakness in the team: The secondary. Hollenbach passed all over these guys and (although I have yet to WATCH the game) it sounded like they didn’t have any trouble.

I was mid-heart-attack post when I realized it was too lengthy and I deleted it. Either way, me and 2 OU fans were the only people at Buffalo Wild Wings sweating the outcome of their respective games. It was extremely up and down. I was writing some notes on napkins.
One note was that firelouholtz.com should be extended to get his old ass fired from ESPN. I couldn’t even hear the commentary and I was about to throw my glass through the TV screen.
2nd, Charlie ended up 18 or 22, or 82% passing with 2 TDs and no INTs. I think 2 of the incompletions came in the last (or maybe 2nd to last) drive. Either way, we were behind and I was trying to contemplate how a team with a QB passing for 70-80% could lose.
3rd, I want to know how many 10+ yard plays MD had. I don’t know how many times on 1st or 2nd & 10 they got completions of 11 or 12 yards.
On the upside, their rusing game was virtually non-existant.
We’re 2-0 now against 2 good opponents. I’ll take it.

You hit it on the head and Nobrainer followed it up. The secondary was hurting most of the game. I don’t understand why our coverage was dropping 10-12 yards when it was 3rd and 8 and the receivers were making their breaks on the 1st down marker. I hope we figure it out because Larry Coker and Co sure will. As for the run defense, we gave up a little more than Nobrainer alluded but by in large our d line showed up and was up to the task. Late in the game, when it mattered most, they dug deep and stuffed MD’s run game. Next week should be uber interesting as our weekness was exposed but we showed abilities many were questioning after A&M

Oh yeah forgot to post the part about a new training regimen for the punting squad. Now that we have almost been killed by a bad snap twice in the past two years, I believe that they should scrimmage with a “chase the ball to inside the 5 and kick it out the back” drill. TAKE THE 2 POINTS!! Two times in less than a year and both result in a TD due to the punter diving on the ball. You would think that he would have something in his head past holding for the kicker and punting the ball.

In the half time interview with Tommy, the reporter asked what he was going to do about the special teams punting issues. He said, “We replace the snapper-problem solved.” It was the same jerk that ruined GT. He’s done.

And they did because they showed the first dufus on the sidelines with his helmet off later in the game during a punting situation.
