Ahh yes, These are the people that are civilized
So after hearing so much about how France disagrees with the American way of intervening with other countries and not helping out at all in the war on terror I find THIS article slightly amusing. I can’t blame them for not wanting to send troops out of their own country, it’s like Les Miserables all over again. They can’t even control their own country. At least America took care of the Rodney King Riots in a few days! So, to France I say, take your uplifted wine sniffing noses and fix your problems before you try to tell America how to run anything ever again.
Oh yeah, I looked on the federal website and found that the last recorded unemployment rate in the US was about 5% if you follow the history of the CNN reports on the Paris riots you will see a blurb that their national unemployment rates are at 12%. So yeah, the country that tried to have a 4 day work week really has no grasp on what is going on in their own country much less the world. I hope people take note of this chaos and quit referencing France as a country who we should recognize in any decision making or respect. After all, what are they going to do…..follow traditional French strategy and surrender?! As for the rest of Europe, we can keep talking to them, they actually have export goods beyond alcohol.
And yes that was a lot of sarcasm!

I’ll start by saying that I really don’t follow the news in France, and that I’ll be burning in hell for kind of enjoying the fact that things are going bad.
It seems that I have read that the French have been highly protectionist… trying to maintain their way of life without incorporating the immigrants. (Racism may also be a large problem their). Either way, throw in a bad economy with high unemployment and a lot of pissed off people will eventually do some bad things.

My understanding is that all the rioting involves the french-born children of immigrants from predominantly African & Muslim areas.
A large part of the problem is porbably due to European Arrogance in all of it’s flavors. It’s not done entirely on purpose, they just think small world terms, not entirely unlike many of us ‘mericans. In this specific example, the French have not exactly been known to be an enthusiastic melting pot of society. The are still overwhelmingly homogenous White, Catholic folk. At issue is the reality that a near totality of it’s citizens are not that seriously religious, whereas a near totality of the NEW french a very much religious, and in a VERY differnt manner then the rest of France is accustomed to. So rather then “deal” with it, the establishment more or less ignores that sector of society.
Nobody likes to feel ignored, let alone to actually be able to prove that they, and their futures, are of little concern to the rest of the country. If jobs were plentiful, they would just be at most a voting bloc. In areas where the jobless rate is near 25%, they become a force to be reckoned with.
Afterall, it is indeed the greatest trick of leadership to convince the masses to follow your lead and that there is nothing they could do about it…
