The best thing about a 10.5 hr drive

Realizing that driving up the ACC corridor is not so bad when you can pick up the weekends football games all the way up.  As I left around 8 AM I listened to some Clemson/Carolina pre-game shows which are always amusing.  While driving through NC I picked up the UNC/Duke game, which wasn’t that exciting but kept updating and talking about other ACC games.  In Virginia I picked up the VT/UVA slaughtering and made calls to my mom to see how the Buckeyes were doing.  For the remainder of the trip I listened to PSU wrap up the Big10 conference and head to the BCS while talking to my sister most of the game (a PSU grad).  All in all I enjoy the long drives north and the football made it easier to handle the time.  It was a decent drive until I got to Delaware and they closed 2 lanes of traffic for a mile which held up traffic for 10 miles.  Oh well at least my families teams swept the competition this weekend!  Now all we have to do is wait and see who plays who.  And although I am PISSED at Georgia Techs inability to realize the destructuring of the ACC bowl picture in their defeat of Miami, I am glad that I won’t have to root in what would have been the PSU/Miami bowl game.  So I am in NJ now, catch me on IM or gmail.

[...] The weekend was enjoyable otherwise, as my wife, Will and I headed up to Lehigh for the tailgates and then made our way back to Little Doug's house to catch the end of the game. We got to see friends that we hadn't seen in quite a while and then spent the evening hanging out with Little Doug, Andy and his wife and Aron and Heather. Andy hooked us up with 32 pounds(!) of Ronzoni pasta, courtesy of his current employer, which means that we'll be eating carbos till the cows come home. We hit Outback Steakhouse, which has always been and continues to be wildly overpriced, for dinner and then headed back to L.D.'s house for a bit, after which my family and I headed home. It was an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday, except of course for the humiliating defeat. I just know Brad is going to be insufferable, seeing as his teams won out the weekend. So, did Lauren go with you?

Personally, I hate driving on long trips, which really screws up my dream of driving to the Grand Canyon.

The wife flew up later, we will be driving back together though. We will see how enjoyable that will be when my road rage flares up and she yells at me. :-P

Yeah, you can probably add another 2 hours to your drive. 1 hour of ‘we should have left an hour ago’ and another of bathroom breaks. Good luck;)

I had XM installed in my car a few months ago…its been great picking up nearly every game in the nation of any importance. Football saturday alone is worth the $10 per month.
