5 Day Freedom

As I had vacation left over from last year and it all had to be burned by the end of March, I took the rest of the week off.  After work on Tuesday I headed up to my grandparents to see them and my parents.  Wednesday morning I had a golf lesson from the course pro who helped my dad out.  After hitting a few balls in my normal stance and swing, the pro stopped me and told me that he had some good news for me.  I was expecting some sarcastic response but he told me that I was not a true slicer and that I actually had a great swing, which was comforting.  The only problem that he saw in my swing was that I wasn’t breaking my wrists in time.  The balls that I hit were going straight initially due to the club head speed I was exerting and then the ball would feel the effects of the spin and slice.  He instructed me on some practices on how to break my wrists and “duck hook” my swing and ran through them a couple times.  By the end of the lesson I was hitting my long irons with a soft left turn on it…..amazing.  He also told me that now that I was turning my wrist I could hit my 3 wood like a driver and told me that my driver was too “whippy” for my club head speed.  He also told me what kind of clubs I need due to my height and club head speed.

After the lesson we went out for 18 and I spent the whole day trying to break my wrists.  The pro made a challenge of aiming down the right side and forcing my mind to turn the wrists.  It works most of the time and when it doesn’t, the ball goes straight down the target line…..but never slices.  So now my game is all messed up while I work this out.  I appologize to the guys I am playing with this weekend!  The good thing was that I was putting like a maniac and drained a couple of 6 footers and one 20+ footer.  My dad, grandpa and I played a scramble and set our course record of 4 under with an EAGLE on the number one handicap!

The rest of the week off I am playing 18 again today, then going home to help the wife out tonight.  Friday I will work on taxes, wait for Nobrainer, then head to Chucktown for the Huggybunch Bachelor Shindig.  In the end I won’t want to go back to work.  SO SUE ME!

    What was the pro’s name?

All new staff at KK as I know, but his name is Ryan. the golf course is getting overhauled this spring too! What a bad time to do that, but it should make the greens a bit less angled which will be good.

Just wondering. I had a darn good boss when I worked there. Plus, he was extremely drool-worthy (great lips and personality) so it made working there even better. ;)
