Maybe I will
Buy America Back. I am not sure if this idea would even work but I do know that May 1 will be interesting. I walked into the plant last weekend and a hispanic worker asked me if I had heard what “they”were asking them to do. I played the dumb card and she proceeded to explain to me, to a T, everything that is planned for May 1. It has also come to my attention that production has at least 30 requests for vacation that day. So from the backwoods in SC I can say that May 1 IS an upcoming issue. I just wish that there was some way for the politicians to get it through their thick scull to not be afraid of the immigration issue.

This is off topic, but I found a link to your old blog. Someone’s taken over and is trying to sell stuff to beat drug tests and whatnot.
Or are you selling that stuff?

I think we should encourage it (not the silly “der tekin r jerbs” buy on May 1 campaign) if, for no other reason, to see what industries and employers in particular are hurting. Then you will know who is “cheating”…

This will work about as well as “Don’t buy gas on this day from (insert oil company of choice) on the 3rd.” Whatever, the best we can hope to do is write, call, rinse, and repeat with our politicians from the local through national levels. If they don’t listen, then we vote them out for some other empty promise makers. By protesting in a central location, aren’t these bozo’s putting big bulls eye’s on themselves for INS? I hope someone with some authority is listening. The smart ones will be at work trying to make some money, they are the only ones I want here anyway…just make sure they did all their damn paperwork.

So I think I came up with a solution to our illegal immigiration problem. It’s very draconian, and many people will be upset. But here it goes:
Abolish Cash.
Let that sink in for a second.
Now, before you tell me I’m completely insane, keep in mind the following:
1) The overwhelming majority of illegals are paid under the table in cash
2) It is not impossible to get a checking account (and therefore a debit card or just plain checks) if you are not legal, but it’s more difficult then going to a check-cashing place and getting cash.
3) We already have a darn near complete electronic purchasing system in place. Maybe we keep coinage of $1 and less to facilitate vending.
4) Instead of spending billions in printing paper money, have the government create an electronic clearing-house for cashless transactions (so that private entities don’t have crippling control of commerce)
There would need to be other safeguards in place, but all the big reasons for keeping and using cash are mostly gone. You no longer have any hope of being anonymous, and cash can be tracked if one really wanted to. So I submit to the public: Be American - Use Plastic (checks take to long in line).

Great AndyOne.
But what about all the small time store that get raped by American Express, VISA, MC, Discover, etc. My mate Scott used to run a store and if someone bought a can of soda, which WAS marked up to .65 a can, and they purchased it on a CC, he LOST money on the transaction. Plastic is not practical for small businesses.
Oh, and by the way, lots of other people get paid in cash besides illegals. In fact, I recommed anytime you have a service performed (work on your house, car, etc.) pay with cash. The car place I go gives a discount if you pay in cash since charging more for plastic is illegal. Already saved me $400.
