My current desktop PC is a self made frankenstein as most of you know. It is 4 years old but can still keep up with everything that has been introduced. It wasn’t until the introduction of Mediaval 2: Total War that I started questioning the powerhorse that I developed. The game “runs” just not up to my standards. The FPS is a little low in the standard map mode and, if I had not modified my video settings, horrendous in the battle scenes. I know that there are some games on the horizon that I will most likely nab due to previous obsession with their predecessors (re:Unreal Tournament 3 ). The question is…..do I purchase a new desktop and use my current one as a backup somewhere around la casa, buy the laptop that I have been craving, or try and build another computer with potentially slight advantage over the one I could purchase (which would also have non-pirated software).Â
I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer build PC’s cheaper than Dell or other mass marketers can build them so that is a driving factor in all of this. The divide is through the fact that my current desktop can handle EVERYTHING but the games and a notebook would be nice to have but not a necessity as I would use it around the house just like I would my desktop for internet purposes and when I DO go on trips.Â
AND IF ANYONE CAN FIGURE OUT MY FREAKIN HTML LINK PROBLEM……PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS THE HREF AINT WORKIN!!!!
There seems to be an unfixed bug in WordPress that’s associated, perhaps with Firefox. If you post using the rich format editor (or whatever the heck it’s called) is uses the xhref stuff then kinda forgets to undo the “x”. I typically do all my posting using the html editor so I don’t run into that problem anymore… but editing the HTML seems to be the only way to fix it… I’m not exactly sure how to avoid it though.
I also agree with you on the building of own computers.. By the time all the parts are specified and shipped, the loss of time just isn’t really worth it. I am wary of Dell since their last CEO gave up on customer service and they had a long run of bad hard drives in laptops, a problem with affected me and several people I knew.
I figure that customer service will be out the door anyways as I will probably just buy the computer for the price and then mod it the way I would like by combining the strong points in my computer (vid card, HD’s, etc…) and the weak points from my old computer to the new one to make one super computer and one mediocre computer. I have been thinking of linking a wireless desktop into the kitchen anyway so that we can have a digital cookbook and web service at our fingertips downstairs anyway and the mediocre comp could suit that to a T if needed.
What HTML problem?
Feh, you’re due to go to MultiUser anyways. Would it be convenient for me to do the upgrade tonight? You might be down for a bit…
I will be out of town most of this next week anyways so do as you must oh mighty bloglord.
