As I sit awake attempting to go to sleep so that I can wake up and do my weekend shift shindig my mind is running. You see, I am usually getting off work now, not trying to get to sleep. When I work weekends I am forced to get home early and try to sleep so that I can make the 6 AM start up. As my body is not used to sleeping in that pattern it tries to continue with what it is used to.
Anyway, the ramblings.
1 . I am using Vista and can’t figure out why no one at microsoft has not programmed a reminder or memo function into their calendar. I don’t use Outlook on the laptop and have stopped using it in general so I don’t have its nifty calendar to remind me to, say, change my air filters. Someone needs to get this programmed somewhere, maybe even in FireFox. I need something to keep the mundane details in line.
2. Thank God for AIM becoming popular in college or else my typing skills would be as advanced as my pick and peck mechanics. It is also what is allowing me to type in the dim lighting of my monitor in bed.
3. If my boss makes me work on Labor Day, yes the season opener of Clemson football, do I have the right to go postal?
I’m not really sure how good the calendar is for Firefox, but I’m becoming a big fan of Google Desktop. You can add all kinds of widgets to it, such as Google Calendar, which of course you can access anywhere. And it does reminders, etc.
Yeah but isn’t there a “big brother” factor within Google in that they have some measure of what is going on within your computer. I thought I heard something like that.
That will vary dependent upon the settings you choose. By turning off the advanced features and limiting which directories are indexable, I don’t think there’s too much to worry about.
Your boss is going to make you work on labor day! Screw him, man. I think Cyndi even has off during gametime and she works 80+ hours a week!
