Bad Daddy! I got a cold from a certain commuting buddy and have since passed it onto Kate. This is the first time that she has been sick so the wife and I are both researching like mad on what all to do. Not unlike a normal cold, all you can do is wait it out and drink plenty of fluids. It sucks that I passed it to her but I am a firm believer in building the immune system as a kid. Too many kids and people in general today are germaphobes and get sick at the drop of a dime. Me, I have no spleen so that is my excuse!

Speaking of Kate, she is now rolling over from her back to her belly and onto her elbows. We are trying to get her to flip back over but she hasn’t figured that out and just sits with her head in her hands after a while whining. We flip her back over and she goes right back to her belly. We are also tucking her knees in to attempt to get her to start pushing for crawling.

My Chiefs got beat by the Dolphins in preseason play. This doesn’t really mean anything but the Chiefs were picked to be one of the only teams in the NFL that could lose every game this year. Yeah…..great season to watch!

There is under 1 week left until the start of College Football (4 days if you are an SEC fan!) and I have watched the ESPN college gameday preseason show and heisman outlook shows 3 times each already. I don’t have a problem!!

Oh yeah, the wife and I upgraded phones to the new LG env2. As we are avid texters, we figured that it was a good move and for $30 bucks for both of us with upgrades it was worth it. Now I am trying to hack it…..I just can’t leave good enough alone!

Now excuse me, I have to flip the child.

So I am once again in Switzerland and have come to realize that because it only gets to a high of the mid to upper 80’s in the country that they do not believe in installing AC anywhere. No AC in the hotel, no AC in the offices, no AC anywhere! Luckily I brought a pair of shorts to wear when not in the office or plant. Unluckily, United misplaced my luggage and won’t get it to me until this afternoon. So yes, I am wearing the same outfit that I wore from 8AM (2 PM Swiss time) on Saturday morning.

Now the mission is to find the chocolate and beer and bring something back.

So their is a movement by a Barney Frank to reduce the penalties of possession of marijuana. Basically, you could carry up to a 1/4 pound of the pungeant herb on your person and not get in trouble. That’s a lot of chiva! I agree with the argument that so much money is being spent on a drug war that is going nowhere as well as the wasted enforcement of the laws and the manpower it takes off of other crime. the concern is that 1/4 pound of marijuana is a lot of pot and, unless the profits are somehow contained in the market, the black market would go insane. Also throw in that the profits from marijuana most likely fund the harvesting of harder drugs and you are creating a serious drug flux problem as well as drug cartel wars and everything else related to the illegal distribution of drugs.

So in the end kids remember that America would have to start marketing marijuana like tobacco and alcohol for this to work and “Drugs are bad…mmkay”.

I think he should get Billy Mayes to be his spokesperson!
What do you guys think of the Pickens Plan? I like that someone has pulled a Perot and decided to take it to America to get things done instead of expecting the government to do something. Throw in the fact that he is an oil tycoon (and yes I know he is now heavily invested in wind power) and it is promising. This is a great opportunity for America but I am not sure that it can happen as the midwest would have to become the power center for the US while the rest of the US did what?

Happy Belated 4th of July. I spent it at home with my family and grilled out with some neighbors while watching the local fireworks show which was no more than a quarter mile away from my back yard. During the holiday I saw a lot of patriotism and our nations colors flying which made me think of posting some random stuff on my odd infatuation with our nations flag.

You can ask Andy 1 about my infatuation with our flag. I often look at flying flags and comment on their state or position. Random blurts of “wow a new flag” to “Someone needs to fix that flags grommets” can be heard in my observations. I appreciate what the flag means both to us as Americans and internationally, even if in disgust (we were probably doing something right to get on their bad side!).

Last week, while driving through Andy 1’s neigborhood, I noticed that one of his neighbors was flying a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag to which I dropped my jaw and exclaimed that it was awesome. Andy mentioned that he had some educated people in his neighborhood and we moved on.

Now, I personally don’t have an American flag hanging outside my house but that is due to 2 reasons:

1. I am still trying to figure out how to properly light it at night without blinding a bedroom

2. The wife wants a flag staff that doesn’t look tacky.

In the mean time, read up on our awesome flag and its history HERE

Oh yeah, I still wish i had knocked on the door of Poot’s neighbor that had a flag flying upside down on their porch one day to see if they needed help. That or call the police on an international sign of distress.
